La industria de software y servicios informáticos argentinos está en pleno crecimiento, pero los profesionales y técnicos de estas áreas no alcanzan a cubrir los puestos de trabajo que generan las empresas, durante 2004 se crearon 9 mil cargos en diversos perfiles, relacionados con estas ramas, mientras que de las universidades nacionales de todo el país sólo egresaron 3 mil jóvenes de carreras técnicas, según un informe de la Cámara de Empresas de Software y Servicios Informáticos de Argentina (Cessi).
